Tyler Scott Menard

Tyler Scott Menard entered heaven on September 6, 2017. He was born September 13, 1984 in Seguin, Texas to Stacey and Nancy Menard. Tyler graduated from San Marcos High School in 2003. He was active in 4-H and later FFA, winning a blue ribbon with an ag mechanic project for his first BBQ pit build. He continued his love of cooking from building his first pit to his enthusiasm for cooking in competitions with his friends. He loved baseball and football and proudly played for the San Marcos Rattlers, receiving Player of the Week honors in football and being named Best Utility Baseball Player. After graduation, Tyler attended Howard Payne University on an athletic scholarship. Tyler and Shae met while working at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. They were married on September 8, 2007 in East Bernard, surrounded by friends from his hometown and Shae’s friends who immediately became his friends as well. The lyrics to their wedding dance says it all as Tyler and Shae began their life together. Big city boy, small town blues. This town seemed so small to me. Well, I was used to the blvd; When I saw you, I fell so hard. Now I never want to leave. Girl, I’m here forever. Together, in ten short wonderful years, Tyler and Shae built the small town life for their family that they always dreamed of, and that dream became a little sweeter when Cash and Carson were born in 2012 and 2014. New Braunfels was their home for six years, before moving to East Bernard in 2013, where Tyler began farming with Shae’s family and quickly learned the love of the land. Committed to working hard and making dreams come true for his family, he also became manager and part-owner of Agland Fuel. In this position, Tyler flourished as a small-town business owner, not just Shae’s husband or David’s son-in-law, something he teased about when he first came to town. Tyler loved the outdoors. Whether it was farming, hunting, fishing or hanging out with friends, there was a good chance he could be found outside. As a boy, his favorite thing to do was to spend time fishing with his Mamaw, who lived next door. Tyler also enjoyed cooking for his family, his friends, and in friendly competitions and cook-offs, which continued when he came to East Bernard. Of all of Tyler’s accomplishments, his proudest was becoming a dad. Cash and Carson were happy doing anything with their daddy, whether it was playing ball, riding tractors, riding the golf cart around the yard or just hanging out with the neighborhood friends. No matter how long the day or how tired he was, Tyler always still made time for his boys. He was a hands-on dad in every way, sharing with Shae not only the fun, but the everyday duties of mealtime, bathtime and bedtime as well. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandparents, G.W. Hales and Joe and Ella Menard, and his father-in-law, David Stelzel. He leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Shae, and two sons who adored him, Cash David and Carson John. He also leaves behind his parents, Stacey and Nancy Menard, sister and brother-in-law Courtney and Jeffrey Underwood, grandmother Joyce Hales (Omie), aunts and uncles Billy and Beverly Hales, Tommy and Sherri Hales, Jimmy and Sharon Menard, Jan Hoffmann; cousins Cody Hales, Ross Hales, Coleman Hales and Sara Hales, Mike Polansky, Vanessa McHugh, Myria Covault, Kim Fields, mother-in-law Brenda Stelzel, sister-in-law Brooke Stelzel. Pallbearers are Scott Rieger, Richie Domel, Jody Domel, Jeffrey Underwood, Ross Hales, Cody Hales, Mike Polansky, Jesse Balboa, Cory Willis, Johnnie Graham, Josh Mangum, and Keith Stelzel. In lieu of flowers, the Tyler Menard Benefit Fund has been set up for Cash and Carson’s college fund at Prosperity Bank.
