Thomas Lopez Garcia, Sr.

Thomas Lopez Garcia, Sr., 70, of Wharton, went to be with his Lord, on September 8, 2017, in Wharton, TX surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born on May 29, 1947, in Wharton, Tx, to Frank Garcia and Augustina Lopez Garcia. Thomas lived in Wharton, Bay City and Pueblo West, Colorado. He married Maria Mejorado and together they had 5 sons and 3 daughters. Thomas loved his family. He entertained them at times while playing the harmonica. He also enjoyed fishing and taught his children to fish. He was Catholic by faith and a life time member to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. He worked as a Sand blaster and spray painter for Brown & Root for many years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maria of Wharton, daughters: Tina Garcia of El Campo, Susie Garcia of Pueblo West, Co and Monica Bentancur of Wharton; sons: Thomas Lopez Garcia Jr. of Wharton, Frank Garcia of Austin, Tim Garcia of Wharton, Joe Lee Garcia of Pueblo, Co and Johnny Garcia of Wharton; sister, Josephine Garcia of Bay City; brother, Joe Lopez Garcia of Houston, 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren., Numerous family and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 starting at 5 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. The family of Thomas Garcia ask that Memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
