George Limas, 66, of Wharton and formerly of Port Neches-Groves, passed away on September 24th in Eagle Lake, Tx. He was born June 6, 1951 in Bryan, TX to the late Mage and Dolores Cadriel Limas. Raised in the Wharton Area, George graduated from Wharton High School. He worked as a truck driver for many years in the Port Neches- Groves area before retirement, then moved back to Wharton. An avid sports fan, George loved his Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, competing on several baseball and bowling teams. Later in life, George enjoyed his time playing dominoes against his friends. A social person, George never met a stranger and thought everything was “a piece of cake”. George is survived by his wife, Del Mira Limas; daughters, Stacey Rayner and husband, Andy of Katy, Ruby Balsano and husband, Blake of Groves, Elisa Garrison and husband, Brent of Port Neches; sons, Ricky Limas of Richmond and George Limas, Jr. of Wharton; sisters, Teresa Gutierrez and husband, Sam of Magnet, Amalia Sigford and husband, Jerry of Pasadena, and Josephine Moran of San Antonio; brothers, Roy Limas and wife, Guadalupe of Wharton, Rudolph Limas and wife, Linda of Livingston, and Augustine Limas of El Campo and several grandchildren: Cameron, Tristen, Bonnie, Madden, Eve and Trudy. Visitation was held Monday, September 25, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home, with a rosary recited at 7 pm. Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Deacon David Valdez officiating.
