Sylvester John Kramr, 81, of East Bernard, passed away September 29, 2017, in Richmond. Syl was born on December 27, 1935, in East Bernard, to the late Edmund P. and Bessie Hlozek Kramr. Syl was raised in the East Bernard area and graduated from East Bernard High School. He later served our country in the National Guard. On February 1, 1959, he married Mary Ann Prochaska in Wallis. They celebrated 58 years of marriage this past spring. Syl worked as a farmer all his life, first in the row crop and cotton fields and later as a rice farmer in the East Bernard and surrounding areas. Many fall days were spent enjoying East Bernard sports, and deer hunting. He also enjoyed listening to and dancing with polka music. Of course, his favorite time was spent being with his family. Syl was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, KJT and East Bernard American Legion. In addition to his parents, Syl was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Allen Kramr in 1983. Syl leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Kramr of East Bernard; daughter Kathleen Fuhrmann and husband, Alex of Missouri City; sons Thomas Kramr and wife, Sarah of East Bernard, and Darryl Kramr and wife, Donna of Sugarland; sisters, Bernice Matusek, Mary Ann Polak and husband, Rudy, and Henrietta McCormick; brothers, Frank Kramr and wife, Evelyn and Eddie Joe Kramr and wife, Mary; his beloved grandchildren, Cody, Nathan, and Kayla Kramr, Heather, Kyle, and Dylan Fuhrmann, and Kylie, Braden, and Bryce Kramr. Visitation will be on Sunday starting at 5 p.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 10 a.m. also at Holy Cross. The Rite of Committal and entombment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by members of the East Bernard American Legion.
