Consuelo “Connie” Rodriguez, 89, of Wharton Texas, passed away October 1, 2017, at a hospital in Yoakum, Texas. Connie was born on January 15, 1928, in Giddings, Tx, to the late Francisco Rodriguez and Evanjelina Trevino Rodriguez. Connie moved to Egypt, Texas as a young child and attended schools there. Connie loved to work and most of all she loved to shop. She enjoyed traveling with family and visiting family. Connie loved to eat with friends and family, especially if someone else was cooking. She was a very active in her church and a member of the Guadalupanis’ Society. Connie loved being with people and when someone was sick she was there to care and nurture. She had a “Heart of Gold” and a true love for family and friends. She greeted people happily and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. All her nieces and nephews will greatly miss their Aunt Connie. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her sisters; Agapita Trevino, Mary Perez, Betty Sagala and Eva Perez; brothers; Frank Rodriguez, Jessie Rodriguez and Joe Rodriguez. Connie is survived by her sister, Lucy Kijek of Portland, Oregon and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved her very much. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 starting at 9 a.m., at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Antonio Perez. The Rite of Committal and burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
