Wanda Goode, 87, of Leander Texas and formerly of Wharton, passed away October 18, 2017, at an assisted care center in Leander following a brief illness. Wanda was born on December 25, 1929 in Wharton, Texas, a daughter of the late Edwin and Beulah Hayhurst Stunz. Wanda was raised in Wharton and attended school here. She married William Robert Goode on October 2, 1957 in Houston, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2005. She worked as a telephone operator for many years before becoming a homemaker. Wanda enjoyed deer hunting, and was very skilled at arts and crafts, learning crochet, needle point, painting and quilting. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William R. Goode, Jr. Wanda is survived by her sister, Patsy Moritz and husband, Charles of Leander, special friend, James Carter Morgan grandchildren, Vanessa and Robert along with great grandchildren, Michaela, Cordel, Katelyn, Haley and Nicholas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton, Texas. Private burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
