Victoria Salas, 86, of Wharton, passed away November 1, 2017, in a Wharton care center following a lengthy illness. Victoria was born on March 23, 1931, in Wharton, to the late Rumaldo and Lina Olivo Salas. Victoria was raised in Wharton and attended school there. She enjoyed being with her family, and working as a nanny. Victoria worked for Wharton County for many years as a custodian at the Court House. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother; Rumaldo Salas, Jr. Victoria is survived by her sister, Manuela Pena and husband, Octavio Joe Pena of Wharton, nieces and nephews, Gabriela Hurley and husband, Will of Wharton, Virginia Perry of Wharton, John Gabriel Salas of Houston and Lina Salas and Guadalupe Moreno of Wharton, Amanda Schmidt and Selena Schmidt also of Wharton and numerous friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 starting at 9 am at Mt Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with a parish rosary recited at 9:30 am. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Antonio Perez at 10am. The burial and Rite of Committal will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
