Isreal “Speedy” Cuellar, 55, of Wharton, passed away November 2, 2017, in a Houston hospital following a lengthy illness. Speedy was born on April 9, 1962, in Wharton, to the late Isreal and Mary Zarate Cuellar. Speedy was raised in Boling and graduated from Boling High School in 1981. He later attended WCJC. Speedy worked for TXDOT for many years and was a supervisor in charge of permits. He enjoyed fishing, going to Matagorda, camping, golf and spoiling his grandchildren. Speedy is survived by his wife, Kris Lanza of Wharton, daughter, Lauren Marissa Cuellar and fiancée Louis Rodriguez of Austin, sons, Joseph Isreal Cuellar and wife, Jeannie of Richmond, and Jason Michael Cuellar and Alixis Torres of Houston, sisters, Phyllis Waddy and husband, Jesse of Wharton, Nora Reyes and husband, Matthew of Lake Jackson and Celia Cuellar of Bay City, grandchildren, Ty Joseph Cuellar, Winter Taylor Cuellar, Max Cameron Cuellar, Noah Cade Cuellar, Sylas Asher Cuellar, Phoenix Lydia Cuellar, Dominic Alexander Rodriguez and Kain Cruz Rodriguez and numerous friends. Following cremation, rosary will be recited at 5 pm Monday, November 6 at Wharton Funeral Home with a celebration of life to follow. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
