Dorothy Jean Keaton

October 22, 1935 — November 4, 2017

Dorothy Jean Keton, 82, of Boling and formerly of Wharton, passed away November 4, 2017, at her residence following a short illness. She was born on October 22, 1935, in Yoakum, to the late Lee and Pearl Harrell Kahanek. Dorothy was raised in Yoakum and graduated from Yoakum High School and later attended Wharton County Junior College. She was a realtor in Wharton in the 1980’s. Dorothy was well known for her creativity and enjoyed gardening, home improvements, painting, sewing and decorating. Never one to sit still, she could be found many days outside, mowing her yard, tending her flowers, or even tiling the entryway in her new home. The folks at Home Depot knew her and her dog Precious by name! In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tyra Demasi in 2012; son, Terry Lee Keton in 1986; and brother, Lee Kahanek in 2000. Dorothy is survived by her daughters; Tamie Joeckel of Richmond; Trena Anderson and husband, Danny of Pattison; and Tyana Archer and husband, Keith of Boling. She has 9 grandchildren: Tanna Ingraham, Trent Joeckel, Trey Roberson, Whitney Naquin, Avery Morgan, Tye Archer, Trevor Archer, Addison Demasi, and Gavin Demasi; and 4 great grandchildren: Madeline Elizabeth Estes, Abigail Grace Ingraham, Lydia Odelle Naquin and Charles Randolph Naquin. It was Dorothy’s wish to forego a service and she will be buried in Yoakum next to her son and brother. Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at whartonfuneralhome.com. Should friends desire, the family would like any memorial contributions to be sent to the American Cancer Association or other charity of your choice.
