Karen Parsutt Countz, 70, of Bay City, passed away October 18, 2017, at a Bay City nursing center. Karen was born on September 25, 1947, in Palacios, TX, to Steve Parsutt and the late Joyce Smith Parsutt. Karen was raised in Matagorda County and graduated from Bay City High School class of 1966. She later attended and graduated from Katherine Gibbs of Boston Mass. She married Tommy Wayne Countz on August 16, 1969. She was a homemaker most of her life but spent the last 25 years bringing joy and laughter to everyone that she met with her jokes and wonderful humor. During those years she never met a stranger. Karen is survived by her husband of 48 years, Tommy Countz of Selkirk Island, daughter, Kristie Caviness of Lubbock, son, Stephen Countz of Huntsville, father, Steve Parsutt of Matagorda and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Maci, Hunter and Luke Countz. Sisters, Beverly Parsutt Thompson, Stephanie Parsutt Rula. Nieces, Emily Thompson and Kelly Rula Oppenheim. Nephews, Chapman Thompson and John Rula and numerous family and friends. Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 10:30 at Matagorda United Methodist Church with Ann Worrell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Matagorda Methodist Church or Matagorda Methodist Latchkey Program, Post Office Box 113, Matagorda, Texas 77457.
