Ross Sterling, 86, of Boling, passed away on November 6, 2017 at his home. He was born on May 22, 1931 in Newgulf, Texas to the late Edmund and Marie Etie Sterling. Ross was raised in Newgulf and graduated from Boling High School in 1949. He attended WCJC. After serving our country in the United States Air Force, he finished his education at Lamar University in Beaumont with a degree in accounting. He married Betty Asher in New Orleans on April 28, 1961. She preceded him in death on September 7, 2013. The young couple settled in New Orleans for a while before relocating to the Conroe area where Ross worked for Jefferson Chemical as an accountant. Moving in 1977 to work with his brother at Sterling’s Vacuum Service. Ross enjoyed tennis, cooking for family and friends, going dancing with his wife, drinking a good bourbon, and loved watching his grandchildren playing in their sport events. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Marie Davis, brothers, James “Boogie” Sterling, Dewey Sterling, Edmund “Eddie” Sterling and Edward Sterling. Ross Sterling is survived by his daughters, Melinda Sterling White of Boling, Katrina Sterling Waddell and husband, Kyle of Mauriceville, and Valarie Sterling Henson and husband, Cliff of Boling, sister-in-law, Suzanne Sterling of Beaumont, grandchildren, George Henson and wife, Marianne, Kris Henson and wife, Candis, Justin Henson, Caleb Henson, Ryan Waddell, and Mercedes White, great grandchildren, Brayden and Konner Henson, and Charlotte Henson and Jaxson Henson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Grace Community Fellowship Church in Wharton at 1 pm with funeral services held at 2pm at Grace Community Fellowship. Pastor Matt Sweeny will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Kris Henson, Justin Henson, Caleb Henson, Ryan Waddell, George Henson and Brayden Henson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mercedes White.
