Barbara is survived by her sons; Michael Wingfield, Ph.D. (Susan), Col Stephen Wingfield, USAF, retired (Margaret), Scott Wingfield, daughter-in-law Janice Wingfield, 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Besides her family, Barbara loved her extended Wharton family. She finally put down permanent roots in Wharton after moving from Arkansas (in 1968) and numerous previous locations throughout the USA and overseas as an Air Force wife. During her life, Barbara was a radiant, loving and generous woman whose energy was infectious and knew no bounds. She approached life with a great sense of humor and a positive perspective. Barbara made friends easily and engaged herself for many decades volunteering at the Gulf Coast Medical Center and the First Presbyterian Church of Wharton. She displayed these same attributes while she worked at the Wharton County Soils Lab. Barbara met the challenges of her life with courage, dignity, grace, humor, perseverance, self-discipline, and above all a deep faith. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wharton located at 1602 John Knox St. with Rev. Debbie Cenko officiating.
