In Loving Memory Of David Borjas Luera December 29, 1931 ~ November 23, 2017 David Borjas Luera, 85, of Wharton, Texas passed away on November 23, 2017 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana surrounded by his family. He was born on December 29, 1931 in Cuero, Texas to Macedonio and Lazara (Borjas) Luera. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, November 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church located at 506 South East Ave Wharton, Texas 77488 with Father Antonio Perez officiating. The family welcomes friends for a time of visitation at Wharton Funeral Home on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited by Johnnie Hernandez at 7:00 p.m. David will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. David was a loving husband, father, and pawpaw. He was the ultimate family man. He loved to golf and fish. He was an appliance repair man who served Wharton County for over 25 years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. David proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Left to cherish David’s memory is his wife of 64 years, Ninfa (Rodriguez) Luera of Wharton, Texas, his daughters; Sonia Hernandez and husband, Johnnie of Mandeville, Louisiana, Laura Luera of Wharton, Texas, and Suzanne Bordelon and husband, Marty of Port Allen, Louisiana, his son, David Luera of Canyon Lake, Texas, his brother, Emilio Luera and wife, Delia of Bay City, Texas, his grandchildren; Jonathan Hernandez and wife, Renata, Matthew Hernandez and wife, Tara, Daniel Bordelon, Benjamin Bordelon, and Yvonne Lisenby, he is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Paige, Cameron, Cayden, and Petra Rose. David is preceded in death by his parents; Macedonio and Lazara (Borjas) Luera, and his brothers; Santiago “Jimmy” Luera and Raymond Luera. Serving as Pallbearers will be; Johnnie Hernandez, Marty Bordelon, Ralph Davila, Daniel Bordelon, Benjamin Bordelon, Matthew Hernandez, and Jonathan Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Harold LeBlanc, Lupe Sepeda, David Holmes, and Byron Working.
