In Loving MemoryofAlfred Martin SabrsulaOctober 28, 1926 ~ January 2, 2018   Alfred Sabrsula, Sr., 91, of Wharton, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in a Wharton care center. He was born on October 28, 1926 in Needville, Texas to the late Adolph and Ludmilla Muniza Sabrsula.   Alfred was raised in the Crescent area and attended school there and later finished his education once the family relocated to Oklahoma. Upon returning to Texas, he married Ruth Kalina on November 16, 1948 in Smithville. He served our country honorably in the United States Army Air Corp. Alfred was a farmer and worked as a carpenter, building homes for many people in the Wharton area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his harmonica and collecting his over 650 cookie jars. In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his siblings, Anton Sabrsula, Paul Sabrsula, A.J. Sabrsula, Viola Kalina, Pauline Kalina, Lillie Kalina, Betty Dry and Mary Ann Doris.   He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth Kalina Sabrsula, sons, Alfred Sabrsula, Jr., and wife, Gloria of Bay City, and Kenneth Sabrsula of Wharton, daughters, Carolyn Pavlicek of Wharton, and Judy Felcman and husband Frank of Hungerford, sisters, Clara Kutach and husband, Adolph of Boling and Tracy Howell and husband, Preston of Edna, grandchildren, Judy K. Cox, Bo Pavlicek, Craig, Ryan and Carly Sabrsula, Kasey Felcman, Kerry Kocian, Kelly Sweat, Katy Morrison and Chad Sabrsula and 22 great grandchildren.   Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home from 5 till 7 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5 at 2pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under the auspices of American Legion Post 87 and VFW post 4474. Serving as pallbearers are Bo Pavlicek, Bubba Cox, Chad Sabrsula, Ryan Sabrsula, Adam Kocian, Cody Sweat, and Brent Morrison.   Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.  Condolences may be left at www. whartonfuneralhome.com.
