In Loving Memory of Enrique Serda Vasquez "Henry" July 17, 1930 ~ January 02, 2018 Enriquez (Henry) Vasquez, 87, died on January 2, 2018. He was born in McCallen, Texas, on July 16, 1930, to Hilario and Isabel Serda Vasquez. He left behind a legacy more valuable than any man could ever be prouder of: 5 sons, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was born into a family of 8 brothers and sisters. It was a close family of 10 that spent most of their lives as adventurers that traveled the nation, picking cotton in Texas, cherries in California, apples in Washington, building railroads in Ohio, blasting tunnels in Pennsylvania, and working in steel mills in West Virginia. That life changed forever for Henry in 1948. He met the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in Colliers, West Virginia, Wanda June Welshans. She too, was an adventurer and they moved to Houston, started a family, having 5 sons within 6 years. Over the next 45 years, Henry always found work that would keep him close to his family working in Houston as a carpenter, a driver for Blue Ribbon Packing and eventually retiring from Maxim Eggs in Lane City, Texas. The most beautiful girl from West Virginia died in 1995. They are together again. They may be gone but leave behind a family of 39 great people who will make sure they will never be forgotten. Surviving Henry are his five sons and families: Henry Serda and his wife Kathleen Vasquez from Gulfport, Mississippi, John O Vasquez of Corpus Chirsti, Texas, Michael and his wife Melchora Vasquez from Houston, Texas, Randy and his wife Rosa Vasquez of Lane City, Texas, and Raul Jack and his wife Eva Vasquez from Weatherford, Texas, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and 3 on the way. One sister is surviving, Goya, as well as 26 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wanda June Vasquez, and brothers, Jose, Hilario, Severiano, Theodore, and his sisters Teresa and Lupe. Services will be in the Chapel at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery located at 3511 Alabama Road Wharton, Texas 77488 on Saturday, Jan. 06, 2018 at 10AM. Family will receive guests starting at 9AM. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Wharton, Texas. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
