Dorothy Roper Argo

Dorothy Argo, age 80, of Wharton, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on January 28, 1937 in Lane City, TX to the late Arthur V. Roper and Claudia P. Roper. Dorothy graduated from WCJC as a Vocational Nurse and spent 32 years caring for others. She retired in 1990. Dorothy enjoyed gardening especially vegetables and roses and enjoyed sewing. She was well known for playing the piano beautifully. The greatest joy in her life was her children, grand children and great grandchildren. She loved the innocence of a child and the pureness in their laughter. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin, her daughter, Deborah Laverne Argo; sons, John Thomas Argo and John Talbert Argo, grand-daughter, Tara Kaylyn Laney; grand-son Charles Joseph Argo and son-in-law Sam O’Mallan; brothers, Melvin Roper and Kenneth Roper. Dorothy is survived by her children; Vivian Peevy of Springdale, AR, Cheryl O’Mallan of Wharton, Pam Blaylock and husband, Virgil of Louise, Calvin Argo, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Wharton, Mary Blaylock and husband, Richard of Palacios, Shelia McDougall and husband, Mike of Wharton and Vanessa Zahn of Chireno, TX. Grandchildren: Kenneth Peevey, Kimberly Samoyedny, Karen Peevey, Kristen Peevey, Douglas Laney, James Laney, Julie Garman, Rose Laney, Shannae Chumchall. Eric Blaylock, Cliff Blaylock, Doug Campbell, Tammy Barnes, Natalie Milton, Amanda Sheffield, Ricky Blaylock Jr., Holly Kubena, Michael McDougall Jr., Emily McDougall, Tara McDougall, Sheri Aylor, Corey Zahn, and Cullis Zahn. Great-grandchildren: Alex Prins, Abby and Caleb Peevey. Argo and Evangeline Laney, Blake and Carlie Garman., Maci Chumchall. Donovan and Logan Blaylock, Kaira Downing, Kaylee Ann Blaylock, Rylie Argo, Maddison and Natalie Genzer Kenlee, Presley and Colby Campbell, Brooke and Taylor SanMiguel, Jordan, Jacob, Mason and Maci Barnes. Kaylee and Drake Sorrel, Carter Milton, Makynna, Chloe, Ryan Jr and Avery Sheffield. Champ, Cash and Coda Blaylock, Tyler and Chelsea Kubena, Hunter McDougall, Bre'Aunna, Ashlyn, Tara, Trace and Atalie Aylor, Ryder and Haylee Zahn, Hayden Zahn. Sister; Barbara Novasad of Sommerville. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Blaylock, Cliff Blaylock and Alex Prins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, January 16, 2018 at Wharton Funeral Home from 5 till 8 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
