Carmen Aguilar Sanchez Carmen Sanchez, age 79, of Houston and formerly of Wharton passed away peacefully on January 15, 2018 in a Houston hospital. She was born August 2, 1938 to the late Teodoro and Vincenta Bernal Aguilar. Carmen was born in Mackey and raised in Wharton and attended Wharton schools. She married Enrique Sanchez on October 20, 1962 and they resided in Wharton for many years. They moved on to Houston and Sealy to be with their children. Enrique preceded her in death in 2009. Carmel worked for many years as a presser at Wharton Steam Laundry. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music, socializing, playing Bingo, cards and dominoes with family and friends.. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ofelia Mendoza and brothers, Jessie, Theodore, Antonio and John Aguilar. Carmen is survived by her daughters, Rachael Sanchez of Houston and Minerva Sanchez of Wharton, sons, Stephen Sanchez of Houston and Adolph Sanchez and wife, Jewell of Wallis, sisters, Minnie Ferrel of Needville, Linda Pasohondo of Eagle Lake, and brother Mike Aguilar of Wharton, grandchild, Angel Sanchez and great grandchild, Angelina Andrews of Sealy and lots of nieces an nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, January 19, 2018 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home from 5 till 8 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7pm.
