His love of music, reflected in his band affiliations during his youth where he played the bass guitar, expanded with his singing while playing the rhythm guitar with local fiddle aficionado, Doc Blakely and other musicians, like Mickey Reynolds, at various Wharton County venues. He also enjoyed playing in a polka band at local nursing homes. Always ready to interject a joke or humorous anecdote into the conversation, Bill wrote hymns, cowboy songs, poetry, and jokes to share with his friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. A luncheon reception/visitation will be held noon to 2:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Wharton First United Methodist Church, followed by at service in the sanctuary at 2:00 p.m. Internment at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
