Doris Waters

July 16, 1929 — January 27, 2018

Doris Waters, 88, of Wharton, TX went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2018 in the comforts of her home. She was born on July 16, 1929, in Friday, TX to Earl B. "E.B." Anderson and Althea Hayes Anderson. Doris attended schools and graduated from Rio Hondo High School. Doris was friends with Jack's sister and as fate would have it, he happened to come along as they were waiting for his sister's mom next to a locked car. Jack willingly helped these damsels in distress and the rest as they say is history. A love story filled with music, dancing, adventure and laughter. They married in Los Fresnos, Texas on February 16, 1946. She was a housewife and to quote Jack, "a good one!". They had 4 beautiful children together, whom lovingly describe her as "the most wonderful mother in the world". She enjoyed reading, square dancing, traveling and golfing. Jack and Doris would write music together. She wrote the words and he put it to music. Known as a great Christian woman, Doris read the bible daily. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge in Bible study groups. She was generous and gave to many charities. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sisters: Marie Dudley, Ina Mae Jones and her brothers: Woodrow "Son" Anderson, and Earl B "Rusty" Anderson, Jr. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 72 years, Treon Jackson "Jack" Waters; daughters, Gwen "Ann" Burns and husband, Larry of Rockport, TX, Sue Johnson of Lubbock, TX and Gary Lynn McCorkle and husband, Larry of Spanish Fort, AL; son, Jack Waters, Jr. and wife, Pauline Novak Waters of Rosharon, TX; sister, Shirley Bray, brother Guy Anderson; grandchildren: David Waligura, Jack Waters III and wife, Melissa, Morgan Waters, Emily Wilson and husband, Dan, Betsy Smith and husband, Trevor, Bree McCorkle and wife, Kim, Micah McCorkle Segar and 14 great grandchildren.
