Frank Charles Janik

In Loving Memory of Frank Janik, Sr. September 4, 1933 ~ February 25, 2018           Frank Charles Janik, Sr., 84, of Wharton, TX passed away Sunday evening, February 25, 2018 at a Wharton nursing center following a brief illness. He was born on September 4, 1933 in East Bernard, Texas to the late Frank Joseph and Martha Zatyka Janik.        Frank was raised in Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School in 1951. He was a member of the 1950 State Champion Football team from Wharton High. He later honorably served our country in the United States Army. Following his service, Frank attended the University of Texas for several years. He married Helen Mae Krenek Evans on November 28, 1959. The family settled in Wharton where Frank and Helen attended Holy Family Church in Wharton. He worked for Schlumberger and Celenese Chemical Company and retired in June 1996. Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, attending his grandchildrens events, playing 42 and gardening. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus and former member of Wharton Lions Club, Holy Family Mens’ Choir, and the Fellowship Committee for many years. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Janik and Adolph Janik.        He is survived by his son, Jimmy Evans of Wharton, daughter, Peggy Evans Janicek of Bellville, daughter, Debbie Janik Peake and husband, Stephen of New Berlin, WI. son, Frank Janik, Jr. and wife, Megan of Stamford, CT. and his sister, Doris Crawford of Houston, grandchildren, Christine Evans Foley, Russell Evans, John Janicek, Jared Janicek, Jacob Janicek, Colin Peake, Derek Peake, Lauren Janik (Sister Catherine Joy Marie with The Sisters of Life), Carolyn Janik, Katherine Janik, Rachel Janik, and Madelyn Janik, and great grandchildren, Jillian, Abbey, Emma, Campbell, Jack and Anna, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.        The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Rebecca Montoya for her loving care.        Visitation was held at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home on Friday evening with a Knights of Columbus Rosary recited at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11 o’clock am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Bob Knippenberg officiating. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in St John Cemetery in Hungerford, concluding with Honors presented by members of American Legion Post 87 and VFW 4474 of Wharton.      Serving as pallbearers will be John Janicek, Jr., Jared Janicek, Jake Janicek, Russell Evans, Colin Peake and Derek Peake with honorary pallbearers, Scotty House, Tim Duyka, Don Mueller, Deacon Alvin Mathys, Tom Krenek and Jeffrey Blair.         Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Fellowship Committee, 2011 Briar Lane, Wharton, Texas 77488 or The Sisters of Life, Annunciation Motherhouse 38 Montebello Road, Suffern, New York 10901. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
