Anna Louise Chumchal, 84, of Wharton, Texas peacefully entered Heaven to be with her precious Lord and Savior on March 26, 2019 surrounded by her adoring daughters. Anna was born on September 23, 1934 in Wharton to the late Louis and Annie Wendel Ullmann.
Anna was born, raised, and attended school in Wharton, Texas. On June 6, 1950, she married the love of her life, Bennie Richard Chumchal, and together they were blessed with 5 beautiful daughters. It is said that some matches are made in Heaven, and surely the union of Bennie and Anna is one of these. After 68 years of marriage, Bennie preceded her in death on August 28, 2018. Anna and Bennie loved to go camping and travel. Many of these trips were to Colorado. After raising 5 daughters, Anna was not done being a mother. Anna started her own childcare. All of those she took care of were so dear to her heart. The children whose lives she touched are too many to name. We are sure they all have their own special memories of Anna just as her own family does. Everyone loved mom’s meals because she was a fabulous cook. Throughout the years, Anna enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, canning everything she could, and spent many hours crocheting caps and blankets for family and friends all out of love. She especially enjoyed working in her flower gardens. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son in laws; Jody Polak and Bobby Wright; sisters, Mary Hartfield and Rose Mary Ullmann; brother, Freddy Ullmann; and great grandson, Lane Houston Joines.
Anna was a dedicated sister, mother, and grandmother who is survived by her daughters: Darline Polak of East Bernard, Peggy Sherrill and husband, Bill of Wharton, Marilyn Wright of Alvin, Elaine Koudela and husband, Jerome of El Campo, and Blanche Joines and husband, Jon of Wharton; sisters, Katherine Kainer of El Campo, Loraine Dusek and husband, Douglas of Wharton, brother Irvin Ullmann and wife, Mary Ann of Hungerford; grandchildren; Joey Polak, Patrick Polak, Billie-Jean Murphy, Kaylyn Sherrill, Katrina Socha, Keith Koudela, Clint Joines, Matt Joines, Christine Reese; 25 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 starting at 9:30 am at the Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will follow immediately after at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Anna’s grandsons: Joey Polak, Patrick Polak, Clint Joines, Matt Joines, Keith Koudela and great grandson Konley Socha. Honorary pallbearers will be Anna’s son in laws: Bill Sherrill, Jerome Koudela, and Jon Joines.
The family sends their sincere appreciation and love to Angels Care Home Health, Garden Villa Health Care Center, Houston Hospice-El Campo, Dr. Ali, Dr. Basit, Dr. Satterfield, Dr. Thai Huyoh, Dr. Ogburn, and Dr. Desai. A special thank you to the dear family members that sat by Anna’s side.
