Barbara Anne Thiele, 88, of Wharton, TX went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2018. She was born in Houston, TX on March 11, 1930 to the late Rev. Anton and Ada Baepler Froehlich. Barbara was raised in the Houston area. She later attended and graduated from St. John’s Lutheran College in Winfield, KS with a teaching degree. She married Henry Charles Thiele on July 19, 1953 in Houston, TX, and they shared 58 loving years together before his death in 2011. Barbara worked as a teacher in the Bishop area before becoming a mother. Barbara and Henry later moved to Bay City, TX, where they lived for 23 years raising their family. She was a devoted housewife who was a very caring mother, good cook, and supportive of her children’s activities. In 1984, Barbara and her husband moved to Wharton, TX where she lived for 34 years. She was a faithful member of St John’s Lutheran Church for many years, very active in the Ladies Aid Society, and always willing to volunteer. Barbara will be remembered for her kindness and caring nature. Her positive spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. She enjoyed camping, sewing, cooking, dominoes and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include: four children, Donna and husband Reggy Comer of Montgomery, TX; Patsy Thiele of Hollywood, FL; Sheryl and husband Brian Josserand of Austin, TX; Richard Thiele and wife Stacy Orenstein of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her sister Charlotte Hullinger of Cincinnati, OH, and brothers Rev. Charles Froehlich of Wharton, TX and James Froehlich of Cypress, TX, and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family extends a special thank you to Elmcroft personnel in Wharton, TX for their loving care and support with dignity during Barbara’s four year stay at the retirement center. Visitation will be on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home from 5 pm until 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St John’s Lutheran Church, 614 Pecan St. in Wharton with Rev. Lutjen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. A reception will follow at the church for family and friends. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
