Beatrice Fojtik

Beatrice Flanagan Fojtik passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021 at Rice Medical Center in Eagle Lake.  Beatrice was born on April 25, 1921 in New York City, New York, to the late Josephine Flanagan.

Beatrice started life in New York City, but an orphan train ride was in her future to take her to East Bernard where she lived all her life. She married George Fojtik, Sr. on November 25, 1940 in East Bernard. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1971. Beatrice was a homemaker, caterer, seamstress that made several wedding dresses from scratch and dozens of bridesmaid dresses, one of the best cooks for East Bernard ISD, and kolache baker extraordinaire, she was even the judge at the Kolache Klobase Festival for many years, made the best strudel and even was the bookkeeper for East Bernard Coop Gin for many years. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Tater, sons-in-law Ervin Michalcik and Wayne Tater, grandson, Rodney Michalcik, brother, Frank Polak.

Beatrice is survived by her sons, George Fojtik, Jr and wife, Margaret of Wharton, James Fojtik and wife, Evelyn of Wallis, daughters, Jeannette Michalcik of East Bernard and Cindy Meitzen and husband, Bill of The Woodlands, grandchildren, Renee Michalcik Rivera and husband, Mark, Ryan Fojtik, Steven Fojtik, Roxanne Fojtik Reinecker and husband, Bradley, and Rachel Mann and husband, Dennis, great grandchildren, Kolby Rivera, Kaleb Rivera, Morgan Reinecker, Braden Reinecker, Cody Manna and Kendal Manna.

Visitation will begin at 1 pm Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with a rosary recited at 1:30pm. The Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be held at 2pm. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery in East Bernard.
