Beuna West Beuna West, age 82, of Wharton, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, in a Sugar Land hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 6, 1935, in Overton, Texas, a daughter of the late Berry and Ethel Spivey Brown. Beuna was raised in the Overton area and graduated from Leverette’s Chapel High School, she continued her education with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and received her master’s at Prairie View University. An educator all her life, Beuna enjoyed teaching all grade levels and then moving into administration and consulting in her later years. She was an avid reader, loved traveling, especially into the mountains with her travel partners, Charlotte and Lloyd Fray, her sister and brother-in-law. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Neta Sue Lovvorn and Charlotte Fray and brother in law, Lloyd. Beuna is survived by her daughters, Bethany Kalinowski and husband, Martin, and Kimberly Barnes both of Wharton, grandchildren, Debra Fukuda and husband, Aharon and David Barnes and fiancée Andria Tant. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, August 13 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Wharton Funeral Home. Private family services will take place at Mossy Grove Cemetery near Hallettsville at a later date.
