Boyce Gertson   Boyce Gertson, 76, of Lissie, Texas passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his home in Lissie Texas.  He was born in Wharton, Texas on December 19, 1942 son of the late Peter D. Gertson Sr., and Katie Hale Gertson of Lissie.   Boyce was raised in Lissie and graduated from East Bernard High School. On November 21, 1980, he married Carolyn Black Gertson in Lissie.  They celebrated 38 years of marriage in November.  Boyce worked as a rice farmer for many years in Colorado and Wharton counties; owner operator of Gertson Custom Services, which consisted of a feed store, dirt hauling and bulk fuel plant.  Boyce looked forward to the fall for high school football games and deer hunting.  His favorite time was spent being with his family and friends.  Boyce was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Lifetime member of East Bernard Booster Club, East Bernard Fair Fund, East Bernard Recreation Club, Lissie Community Improvement Association and Lifetime member and one of the original 25 directors to start the Wharton County Youth Fair.  In addition to his parents, Boyce was preceded in death by his sister Ruby Sheridan and Betty Wolff.   Boyce leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Gertson of Lissie; daughters: Dianne Gertson of Lissie, Carol Gertson of Dallas; sons: Robert Gertson and wife, Joanna Gertson of Lake Travis and Trey Reed of Houston, brother: Dan Gertson and wife, Maryan of Lissie and his granddaughter: Vivien Gertson, his pride and joy.  Along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.   Visitation will be on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard beginning at 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Rosary at 2:30 p.m. follow by a Funeral Mass.  The Rite of Committal and entombment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Gertson, Ronald Gertson, John Gertson, Stephen Gertson, Ricky Kramr, Jeff Hlavinka, Brian Hlavinka and Peter Stelzel. Honorary Pallbearers will be his “adopted grandchildren”; Matthew Stelzel, Tara Talley, Lauren Hlavinka, Blake Hlavinka, Patrick Hlavinka, Jordan Darr, Cole Corman, Chance Corman, Joey Stearman, Elveria Saldierna, Gizella Hernandez and Gilbert Hernandez.   In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to Holy Cross Parish Development Fund or Wharton County Youth Fair Scholarship Fund.   Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at whartonfuneralhome.com
