Carlos David Ortiz

Carlos David Ortiz passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at the age of 64.

Carlos was born on July 15, 1957, in Galveston, Texas. Throughout his life he worked in many industries. In his younger years he was a trucker, mechanic, and firefighter. In 1996 he began his law enforcement career. During this this time he worked for several agencies. He was presently employed at the Colorado County Sheriff's Office in Columbus, Texas. 

Carlos had many ties to the community and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in any way he could for anyone. His presence and smiling face will be missed by many.

Carlos is preceded in death by his sister Maricela Mares.

Carlos is survived by his wife, Olga Ortiz, his daughters, Vanessa Ortiz-Crist and Abigail Ortiz, his son, Donovan Ortiz, his stepchildren, Kris Rivera, Kristi Hahn, his grandchildren Ayden Ortiz, Cordae Crist, Kenzie Hahn, his mother Hortencia "Tencha" Ortiz, his brothers, Guadalupe "Lupe" Ortiz (Geneva Ortiz), Roel "Roy" Ortiz (Sandra Ortiz), Hilario "Larry" Ortiz, and Hector Martinez.

Services will be held at the Civic center in Wharton, Tx. The viewing will take place from 10:00 - 11:00 am with the service to follow. Relatives and friends are welcome at the reception at College Heights Baptist Church.
