Carolina Driscoll Sanders, 79 years old, Newgulf, TX passed away of natural causes on Saturday January 27, 2024. She was born in Newgulf, TX on August 29, 1944 and raised in Midfield, Burr, Wharton, TX.
Carolina (also known as Carolyn) was preceded in death by her parents Carlos and Manuela Driscoll, her brothers Fidel, Carlos, Ishmael, David, her sisters Victoria, Amelia, Mary, survived by her beloved husband Paul Sanders of Newgulf, her sister Alice Gonzalez Yanez and husband Ray Yanez of Katy, her daughter Sonya Ramirez Quintero and husband Carlos Quintero of Richmond, her daughter Regina Nunez and deceased partner Rodney Prejean of Houston, her son Rudy Ramirez and wife Jennifer Ramirez of Richmond, her grandchild Desi Quintero, Anthony Prejean, Nicholas Ramirez, Savannah Ramirez, Aaliyah Prejean, Grace Ramirez, Aalyssa Prejean, Ari and Avi Prejean, her great grandchildren Jose Ortiz, Sebastian Ortiz, and Antonio Perez III, also numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolina graduated from Wharton High School of 1964. Carolina was a honorable Catholic and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Shortly after graduation she moved to Houston and worked at Browns' Bookstore as a clerk. From there she worked at Triangle Refinery (1977-1982), Coastal Corporation (1982-2000), and then Atofina until her retirement in 2005. She enjoyed her coffee and cookies at all times of the day, also supported her local community at multiple restaurants. Carolyn had a huge heart and helped the community in various ways like picking up trash, feeding/taking in homeless dogs, donating to fundraisers and helping people in any way possible. Carolyn loved 50s/60s reruns and watched every "I love Lucy" episode. Carolyn lit the room with her jokes and even cracked herself up, up until her last day. She loved living the country life, her family, and most importantly cherished her relationship with God.
Thank you to those who loved and showed kindness to her. We will cherish her memories and her jokes forever.
Visitation will be held starting on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 9 a.m. at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. by Rachel Ramirez. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. A Rite of Burial and Committal will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
