Cassie Ann Urbanovsky passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at a local assisted living center. She was born on August 16, 1932 in Wharton to the late Walter Owen and Carrie Mae Thompson Early. Cassie Ann was a lifetime Wharton resident. Upon graduating from Wharton High School Cassie Ann attended the University of Texas . Her education concluded with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Houston. She married Joe Urbanovsky on May 3, 1952 in Wharton. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2015 after 62 years of marriage. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother Walter Early. Cassie Ann was a beloved teacher at Wharton schools for many years. She enjoyed educating the youth of our community and proudly served her chosen profession. Upon retirement she was active in Senior Friends, going on many trips including her favorites to the casinos. An avid Houston sports fan, she rarely missed a broadcast of the Astros, Rockets, Oilers or Texans. As a young adult, Cassie Ann enjoyed playing tennis and softball. Fishing with her family was also a favorite pastime. Attending musicals in Houston with her family or insisting that her children attend the community concerts in Wharton is greatly valued by them today. She volunteered as a candy striper for the Caney Valley Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the bell choir at the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Carolyn Clement of Wichita Falls; son, Joe Urbanovsky and wife, Marty of Austin; grandchildren, Corin Christopher Clement and wife, Jenna of Addison, Carrie Lee Daniels and husband, Scott of Austin and Colton Leonard Urbanovsky of Austin. Special family friends are Debbie Murray, Jenny Payne and Cathy Schneider whom she enjoyed sharing in their lives as well. Reception and light lunch was held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 12 noon at the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church with funeral services following at 2pm at the church. Burial was in the Wharton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Cochran, Tim Barker, Dr. Keith Dowell, David Youngblood, Jeffrey Blair and Jim Billings. Carolyn and Joe are thankful for the daily loving care by the ladies of Elmcroft. If so desired, Cassie Ann was an animal lover and would be pleased if memorials were given to S.P.O. T.
