Cecelia Marie Jedlicka, age 94, of Wharton, Texas, passed away on December 14, 2024, in Wharton, Texas. She was born on June 8, 1930, in East Bernard to the late Stanley and Josephine Viktorin Luchak.
Cecelia was raised in the Wharton area and attended Hungerford schools. She married Frank Jedlicka on October 5, 1948, in Hungerford. After 62 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on February 24, 2011. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother to her five children. She was usually found in her kitchen baking cookies and cakes except on Friday nights, when she was at the bingo hall. A member of the KJZT and St John Altar society, church was very important in her life as she was a long-time member of St John Catholic Church in Hungerford. Always willing to help, she ran the tea stand at the church bazaar and fire department fundraisers every year. She also enjoyed trying her luck at Coushatta. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Frank Jedlicka, sisters, Agnes Kliss and Lillian Tamborello, brothers, Stanley and Louis Luchak.
She is survived by her daughters, Bernadette Karasek and husband, Daniel of East Bernard and Barbara Svatek and husband, Kenneth of Wharton, sons, Jimmie Jedlicka and wife, Karen of Wharton and Daniel “Rooster” Jedlicka and wife, Danette of Wharton, sister-in-law, Dolores Luchak and brother-in-law, Frank Tamborello, grandchildren, Philip Jedlicka, Matthew Jedlicka, Jerome Karasek, Stephen Karasek, Becky Tovar, Tammy Karasek, Keith Jedlicka, Randy Jedlicka, Rodney Jedlicka, LeeAnn Garner, Sarah Svatek, Kaitlyn Melancon and Kori Melancon, great grandchildren, Wyatt, Colton, Eli, Kendall, Kourtney, Cheslee, Paetyn, Bryton, Kristen, Rylyn, Taylee, Allison, Kale, Landon, Kortlan, Colby and Blake along with great great grandchildren, Benjamin and Kennedy with one more due in April.
Serving as pallbearers were Philip Jedlicka, Matthew Jedlicka, Jerome Karasek, Stephen Karasek, Keith Jedlicka, Randy Jedlicka and Rodney Jedlicka. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Becky Tovar, Tammy Karasek, LeeAnn Garner and Sarah Svatek, along with great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at St John Catholic Church in Hungerford after 5:30 pm with rosary recited at 7 pm. Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at St John Catholic Church at 10 am Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
