Charlene M. Johnson

February 16, 1943 — January 28, 2021

Charlene Marie Johnson

Charlene Marie Johnson, 77, of Wharton quietly passed into the arms of the Lord on January 28, 2021.  She was born on February 16, 1943 in El Campo, Texas to the late Charlie and Marie Furch Dornak.

Charlene was raised in Wharton, Texas and graduated from Wharton High School.  She later moved to Houma, Louisiana where she owned and managed their trophy shop until her return to Texas, which truly was her real home.

Charlene treasured every minute she was able to spend with her family and friends.  She had the kindest soul and always saw the good in everyone.  She enjoyed greeting her “regulars” at Svatek’s and genuinely took an interest in each of them.  She was often referred to as the lady at Svatek’s with her perfect hair (by her magician, Drayson Coats) and her starched clothes.  Her contagious smile and attitude will be greatly missed by all.  In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her son, Troy Johnson and brother, Lee Roy Dornak.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Robbin Lyn Johnson, nephew Keith Dornak and wife, Doris; nieces, Karen Womack and husband, Johnny and Janet Hoffman and husband, Albert.  Great nieces, Krystal Baca and husband Michael and Mallory Hoelscher and husband Kyle and great-great nephew and niece Kase and Kelbie Baca.

The family would like to thank the staff at the hospital and rehabilitation for the care given to her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday February 1st from 5-7 P.M.  Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M.  and a Memorial Service at 6:30 with Debbie Cenko officiating at Wharton Funeral Home  515 E. Boling Hwy.  Wharton, TX.   Interment will be private.
