Charles Lloyd Grant, Jr.
Charles Grant, Jr., 76, of Wharton, Texas, passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was born to the late Lloyd and Mellie Duncan Grant on April 20, 1948, in Seneca, SC.
Charles was raised in Seneca, SC and was a 1966 graduate of Seneca High School. Charles attended Tri-County Tech in Pendleton, SC and graduated with an industrial electronics degree. He also attended Forrest College and Limestone College, graduating with a B.S. in manufacturing engineering. He worked for Schlumberger for many years, leading him to Wharton, TX. Charles loved to stay busy and could never truly “retire.” He worked at Colorado County Juvenile Detention Center in Eagle Lake, TX, beginning in maintenance, and later, he was promoted to warden. Charles also worked for Holiday Inn in Victoria and Wharton, TX, Boling Equipment Service and many more jobs “just to stay busy.” He enjoyed working at his ranch, hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, boating and being around his grandchildren. He was proud to have coached his sons in Tball, baseball and anything they participated in.
Charles is survived by his wife, Kathy, of 58 years; sons, Chuck, Chad and wife, Kathleen, Chane and Corey; and his beloved grandchildren, Alana Beitz, Alexis, Kalin, Sanja, Madison, Hayden, and Tristan, along with great-grandchildren, Theo Beitz and Artie Grant.
Charles was a member of Magnet Baptist church in Magnet, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at Wharton Funeral Home Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11 am.
