Chris Pena, 58, of Wharton, TX passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 in an El Campo hospital. He was born on October 1, 1959 in Wharton, a son of Jesse and Janie Perez Pena. Chris was raised in the Wharton area and graduated from Wharton High School in 1978. He later attended WCJC. Chris worked for many years at Conoco Phillips Sweeny facility in Sweeny as a construction foreman. He enjoyed riding his Harley, an occasional round of golf, drinking his Dr. Pepper and being around his friends and family. Chris loved working at Zachary Construction, and made many friends there. He was always treated like and treated them like part of his family. Chris married Sandra Vaughn on July 24, 2010 after a 23 years courtship. Chris is survived by his wife, Sandra Vaughn Pena of Wharton, sons, Joshua, Christopher and Brian all of Wharton, parents, Jesse and Janie Pena, brothers, Mark Pena and wife, Corinna of Wharton and Gary Pena and wife, Sonya of Rosenberg and his granddaughter, Alexis, and his nephews, Vincent Pena of Wharton, and Michael Pena and wife, Angel of Rosenberg. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Mickey Reynolds officiating.
