Clara Ileta Hughes Gore, 87, joined her savior on Thursday, May 10, 2018. She was born on July 8th1930 in Vera, Texas to parents George Albert Hughes and Bettie Josephine Bonds Hughes, along with her siblings Quel Alton Hughes and Lillian Lauraine Hughes Reeves Montgomery. Ileta married her husband and soulmate Wallace Kenneth Gore when she was just 17, and they were happily married for 53 years. She now joins him in heaven, along with two of their children, Patti Kathleen Land and Kenneth Hughes Gore, as well as their great granddaughter Jenna Claire Ortiz. Ileta and her husband lived together for many years on a farm outside Seymour, Texas, cultivating both the land and their large family in equal measure. Her memory will endure with her surviving family, all of whom cherished her humor, her strength, and her devotion to God and family. Ileta had an elegant and admired sense of style, and she loved to garden, share a good laugh, and spend time with her loved ones. Ileta is survived by her daughter Virginia Maria Gore, her son-in-law Dusty Carpenter Land, her “adopted” son Bill Huck (spouse Karen Huck), and by her son Ken’s former wife, Donna Mills, brother-in-law, Doug Gore (spouse Marie Gore). She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Melissa Nicole Wicker (spouse Cody Wicker), Kenneth Carson Gore, Tawny Allison Ortiz (spouse Jaime Ortiz), Kenneth Nathan Tijerina (spouse Lindsey Tijerina), Micah Tate Land (spouse Kami Land), and Tara Kathleen Wood (spouse Eric Wood); and her 12 great grandchildren: Shelby Katherine Wicker, Wallace Weston “Dub” Wicker, Presley Paige Barker, Leo Jaime Ortiz, Jessika Schultz, Piper Marie Land, Lucy Capri Land, Grace Kathleen Wood, Layla Carpenter Wood, Cadence Ileta Wood, Kenneth Newt Tijerina, and Lila Patricia Tijerina. A memorial will take place at the Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton, Texas on Monday, May 14th. Visitation will begin at 3:00pm, and the service will take place at 4:00pm.
