Clinton “Duke” George Duyka, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, slipped quietly and peacefully from this world on Friday, October 8, 2018 at his home in Cypress, Texas. Clinton was born in Wharton, Texas on February 21, 1942, to the late Anton Duyka and Marie Ondrias Duyka. Clinton was raised in the Hungerford area and would often tell stories of growing up in the country. He graduated from Eagle Lake High School in 1960. He was active in high school playing football, basketball, track, and baseball. He was a self-taught bass fiddle player and was a member of the Eagle Lake High School Dance Band. Following high school, Clinton attended Wharton County Junior College for a year and then went to the University of Houston, where he received his bachelor’s in business administration. He met the love of his life, Mary Beca on a blind date and they married on May 13, 1979 in the chapel on the U of H Campus. They were blessed with a daughter, Christine Andrea, who was Daddy’s Girl from the day she was born. Clinton worked in electronics sales most of his career. He was known for his hilarious stories and making people laugh. His charismatic personality was contagious, and he never met a stranger. He also knew his way around the kitchen and was famous for his chili, baked Easter ham, and his “Bohemian Knock ‘Em in the Dirt Quick Beans” to name a few. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Anthony Duyka. Family was always the top priority in Clinton’s life. Those Clinton most cherished include: his wife of 39 years, Mary of Cypress; daughter, Christine Andrea Sills and husband, Jason of Austin; sister: Carolyn Austin and husband, Larry of Eagle Lake; brother: Greg Duyka and wife, Dana of the Woodlands; grandchildren: Ethan Sills and Sara Sills; nephew Gregory Duyka and wife, Brittany and great niece: Adalyn Duyka. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by a rosary recited at 10:30 by Tim Duyka. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Bob Knippenberg officiation. Following cremation, burial will occur at a later date.
