Curtis Glenn Brothers, also known as “Pa”, passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2018, at the age of 88 at the Fort Bend Nursing and Rehab in Rosenberg, Texas. He was born on August 9th, 1930 to Travis Brothers and Sarah Price Brothers in Winters, Texas. He grew up in a large family of four brothers and six sisters. Curtis was raised in and graduated from Robstown, Texas. He was a veteran of the US Marines Corps. He served in the Korean War from 1950- 1953 and got wounded in 1952. He then received the Purple Heart Medal. Curtis then went on to work for the department of Public Safety and the Sheriff’s Department in Wharton Texas in 1963. He also worked as a Security Officer at Texas Gulf Sulphur in New Gulf, Texas from 1967 -1990. He and his wife, Shirley also ran a Café together in New Gulf. After retirement Curtis also managed a RV Park in Montana between 1991-1993 and later worked at a casino in Biloxi, MS for three years. He loved to travel with his wife and made many trips to the casinos. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Brothers, Son, Gary Brothers and wife, Rose of El Campo, Grandchildren Emily Edwards and husband, JW, Amanda Brock, Crystal Matlock and husband, Patrick, great grandchildren, Abigail, Madelyn and Jacob Edwards, Savanna and Gabriella Brock, Faith Bannert, and Mackenzie and Madisyn Matlock, brothers, James Brothers and Bill Brothers, and sisters, Gerolene Shedd and Janie Selensky. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Javanna Gebara, granddaughter Denise Bannert, brothers, Raymond Brothers and Robert Brothers, sisters, Inez Raymond, Audrey Woodcock, Edna Glenn and Edith Frazier. Following cremation, graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 1pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
