David Guerra, Sr., 70, of Wharton, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his residence in Wharton. Born on August 5, 1954, in Wharton, TX to the late Guadalupe and Magdalena Esparza Guerra. David lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. David was a painter most of his working life, he worked on many houses, and retail sites in and around Wharton for many years. He loved being outdoors, weather BBQing for friends and family or tinkering in the yard. Family time was special to him, and many days and evenings were spent reliving family stories and cherished memories. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Destiny.
David is survived by his daughters, Grisel Contreras, Crystal Gutierrez and husband, Gabriel, Diana Callis and husband, DeKesson, Flor Guerra and Leslie Sedillo, son, David Guerra, Jr. and Elizabeth Rodriguez, sisters, Estella Gomez and Nancy Enedina Salazar, brothers, Guadalupe, Johnnie, Louis, Ruben, and Jesse and his precious grandchildren, Nerissa, Mark, Jr., Gabriel, Jr., Maddie, Isiah, Emily, Giselle, Robbie, K.J., Taviana, D.J., DeKaelyn, DeKamryn, DeKaisse, Jayland, Jeremiah, Jasmine, Elisa, Destiny, Richard, Romeo and Khloe.
As we celebrate David’s life, we invite all who knew and loved him to gather together for visitation on Thursday, April 24 from 1 to 2:30 at Wharton Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton at 3 pm. Please join us in honoring his memory.
