Dennis Ray Svatek, Sr.

Dennis Ray Svatek, Sr., 77, of Boling, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He was born December 21, 1943, in Wharton, to the late Frank and Rosie Mikes Svatek. 

Dennis worked for TexasGulf Sulphur Company in Newgulf for 26 years until the shutdown and then went to work for Wittig Grass in Boling, for 12 years, until he retired.

Dennis, “Shorty” as most of the Boling community knew him as, was well known for lending a helping hand and cooking at many fundraisers within the Boling Community. He was also known for telling jokes, he had a new one all the time.
His hobbies included hunting, playing dominoes, making homemade sausage with family and friends, listening to polka music (especially the Czech Melody Masters) and spending time with his family. Later in life, he enjoyed relaxing and watching the Astros and the Game Show Network.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Joel (Joey) Svatek and siblings, Rosalie Yawn, Frances Adamick, Frankie Svatek, and Ed Svatek. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Joyce Bosch Svatek and children, Dennis Svatek, Jr. and wife Marcie, Dustin Svatek, Christy Gonzales and husband JJ, Melissa Svatek and fiancé Matt Richardson; grandchildren, Courtney Svatek, Stephen Svatek, Kylee Svatek, Caitlin Richardson and Madison Gonzales; siblings, Lille Wittig and husband Leonard, August Svatek and wife Joan, Jerry Svatek Sr. and Leonard Svatek. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and close friends who loved him dearly and will miss him. 

A visitation will begin at 1pm followed by a Celebration of his life held on August 21, 2021 at Wharton Funeral Home at 2pm with Rev. Michael Limas officiating.
