Dolores Fried Koenig, 74, of Wharton passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on January 27, 2021. She was born on January 25, 1947 in East Bernard, Tx to Edward W. Fried and Bessie Borak Fried.
Dolores was raised on the Bernard Prairie until moving to Wharton with her family as a young girl. She attended Wharton High School. After graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles L. Koenig on June 26, 1966, in Wharton. She was a banker with Security Bank & Trust and New First National Bank for 49 years. She cherished her banking relationship with many many customers, as well as within the community. She served on the Wharton Chamber of Commerce Board, Beautification Commission, as well as, volunteering at Holy Family Catholic Church and Matagorda Beach Cleanup. She enjoyed the beach, traveling with friends and family, junking in Warrenton, listening to polka music, vinyl records, doing puzzles, mowing, yard work, plants, cooking, hunting. Most of all she LOVED being with her family and friends. She never met a stranger!
She is survived by her daughters, Lacy Koenig Border and husband, Steven and granddaughter, Layla and daughter, Amy Koenig. Her sister/cousin JoAnn Baker and nephews, Scott and Ross Baker; nieces, Melissa Fried Prescott and family, Cindy Fried Buzek and family, Cathy Fried and Christy Fried. Sister-in-law, Carol Koenig; nephews, Ron Koenig and wife, Holly and family, Greg Koenig and wife, Jeanette and family. And friends that are like family. She held all of them dear to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Edward Fried, two brothers, Edwin Fried and Eddie Fried; husband, Charles L. Koenig. In laws, Joe Koenig and Dagmar Koenig and brother-in-law, Gary Koenig.
