Donald Aubrey Broussard
November 28, 1943 ~ January 30, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Aubrey Broussard announces his passing on January 30, 2023, at the age of 79 after an extended illness. Donald was born on November 28, 1943, in New Iberia, LA, to Aubrey and Merle Broussard. The family moved to Wharton, TX, in 1949, because of his father’s employment. He attended schools in Wharton including WCJC, and then the University of Houston. In 1964, he married Margaret Tydlacka, his high school sweetheart, and they had two children Michael (Mike) Broussard and Rachel Broussard. The family lived in Alief, TX, until 1977, when they moved to Richmond, TX.
Donald was the epitome of a loving husband, dad, and granddad. He was a family man and family always came first. He had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help, which gave him great joy. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2014. In addition, he suffered with abdominal migraines and mild mixed dementia, both related to Parkinson’s. Even though he had medical challenges, he never once said “Why me”. He was employed by Chevron Oil Company for 33 years mostly in the IT Department, traveling to California, Colorado, and Canada. After retiring from Chevron at the age of 59, he later went to work for Schulte Machine Works, Inc. in Rosenberg, TX, for a few years. He enjoyed large family get-togethers, camping, boating, family vacations, working on vehicles, refinishing old furniture, and playing a domino game called Chicken Foot with friends. Donald was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 2801. He enjoyed the friendship and fellowship by working with various fundraisers for both, the Church and the KC’s.
Donald will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Margaret, son Mike Broussard of Richmond, daughter Rachel Broussard and husband David Baca of Richmond, grandchildren Rylea and Caden Broussard, sister Dianne Wallace and husband Jim of Fort Stockton, sister Linda Broussard of Richmond, sisters-in-law Gladys Carroll of Kingwood, Ruth Lovell of Kingwood, Donna Tydlacka of Boling, brother-in-law Jerry Tydlacka and wife Carol of Needville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects to the family on Wednesday February 15th from 9:30a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George St., Rosenberg, TX. Rosary will be recited beginning at 10a.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am, with Father Vipin George Edakazhickal, celebrating. Interment will be private at Evergreen Memorial Park, Wharton.
