 Donnie Wessels, 72, of Wharton, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 2, 1952, in Wharton Tx. to the late George and Frances Kucera Wessels.

Donnie was raised in the Wharton area and graduated from Wharton High School in 1971. Following high school, he served our country proudly in the United States Air Force. He married Debra Bardwell on March 23, 1991, in Wharton. Donnie worked as a truck driver for HEB for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, working in his garden and a good cold beer. His favorite time was spent harassing his grandchildren.

 Donnie is survived by his wife, Debra Wessels of Wharton, sons, Donnie Scott Wessels and wife, Amanda of Magnolia, and Shane Bardwell Wessels and wife, Sara of Wharton, daughter, Christy Leigh Matus and husband, Steven of Katy and step-daughter Mallory Best and husband, Clayton of Buda, sisters, Gail Wendtland and husband, Steve of Glen Flora, Sandra Norris and husband Marc of TN, and Melissa Maser and husband, Jim of Wharton, and his precious grandchildren, Ryan Joseph Matus, Lexi Wessels, Peyton Wessels, Paisley Wessels, David-Michael Best, Daniel Best and Dorothy Best.

 Private family services will be held at a later time.
