Dora Ramirez Castro Dora Ramirez Castro, 75, of Wharton, passed away on Friday evening February 1, 2019 with her family by her side in Wharton. She was born on October 2, 1943, to Mateo Ramirez and the late Juanita Rosales Ramirez Bernal. Dora was born and raised in Wharton and attended school in both Hungerford and Wharton. She married Juan Castro in Hungerford on April 15, 1988. She worked for Texas Instruments as a line technician for many years before retiring in 1998. She and her husband, Johnny were the owners and operators of Taco Hut in Wharton since February 2000. Dora enjoyed dancing whenever and wherever she could, loved spending time with her family, and of course, loved making the best tortillas. When not at work, she could be seen at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton serving as an eucharistic minister, or teaching CCD. She was also involved with the Guadalupanas, serving as president for many years. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Josie Bernal and brother, Juan Bernal. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Castro of Wharton, daughter, Debbie Castro Garza and husband, Ronnie of West Columbia, sons, Martin Ramirez and wife, Amy of Las Vegas, Johnny Castro, Jr and wife, Connie of Wharton, Ralph Castro and wife, Danielle of Burr and Joshua Castro of Wharton, father, Mateo Ramirez and his wife, Pat, grandchildren, Lisa Sanchez Gusman, Zachariah Castro, Adelaida Garza, Ashley Spano-Ramirez, Martin Ramirez, Justin Ramirez, Alexis Ramirez, Leslie Castro Espinosa, Olivia Castro, Johnny Castro, III, Joseph (JoJo) Castro, Brianna Estrada, Ralph Castro, Jr, Frank Castro, Brandon Castro, Brandon Galabeas, Christian Castro, Phoenix Castro and Isabella Castro, sisters, Esther Ramirez Estrada, Linda Ramirez and Lisa Ramirez and brothers, Felix Ramirez, Manuel Bernal, Robert Medrano, David Ramirez and Mateo Ramirez, Jr., and 21 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton starting at 9am with a rosary recited at 9:30 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial and Rite of Committal following at 10 am. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachariah Castro, Fernando Espinosa, Joseph (JoJo) Castro, Johnny Castro, III, Ralph Castro, Frankie Castro, Gilbert Castro, Paul Castro, Martin Ramirez and Justin Ramirez.
