Douglas Eugene Beck, 74, of El Campo passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in a Wharton nursing center. He was born in Smithville, Texas on December 8, 1945 to the late Emil Joseph and Ella Frances Terrel Beck.
Douglas was raised in the Boling area and graduated from Boling High School. Following high school, he spent a lengthy time in the United States Marines Corps serving our nation honorably. He married Geneva Blanche Wingo on September 30, 2002 in Wharton. Douglas enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Beck.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 17 years, Geneva Beck, of El Campo, daughter, Mary Svec of Wharton, sons, David Wingo of El Campo, Daniel Southwood of Wharton, Stanley Southwood of Hungerford and Henry Southwood of Wharton, sisters, Pat Calcote of Grapeland and Becky Luedecke and husband, Glen of Louise, brother, Billy Dean Beck of Boling, grandchildren, Anessa Quijas, Skilyn Marie Wingo, David Christopher Wingo, Eric Estrada, Jonathon Ray Wingo, David Ray Wingo, Jr., Sabrina Renee Wingo, Adam Paul Andrade, Vanessa Southwood, Rebecca Quijada-Orellana and husband Marvin Quijada-Orellana, Katherine Southwood, Katherine Schmidt and Henry Stevens, great grandchildren Caleb Guzman, Rihanna Gusman, Gabriel Southwood, Noah Zamora and Marcus Zamora, Iycis Jackson and Gabriel Southwood, numerous great great-grandchildren, niece, Deborah Mozisek, and Laura, Kari, Alyssa great nieces Selena Moreno and Veronica Guajardo, and nephews Jason and Dustin great-nephews, Matthew Moreno and Isaac Guajardo along with many other extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home after 6pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton with military honors provided by members of the Wharton American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
