Funeral services for Edwin Edward Janik, age 87 of East Bernard, Texas will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 am, and Catholic mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial and military honors will follow at Wharton City Cemetery, Wharton, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Jared Edward Janik, Tate Allen Janik, Chris Janik, Danny Gertson, Tommy Vacek and Roel Galicia. Honorary pallbearers are Vance Andrew Janik and Royce David Janik. Mr. Janik, was born on November 16, 1930 to Emil Joseph and Sophie A. Sindel Janik in East Bernard. He passed away on May, 13, 2018 in Houston, Texas from congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce A. Riha Janik; son, Mark Allen Janik and wife, Susan; grandsons, Jared Edward, Tate Allen, Vance Andrew and Royce David Janik of Houston, Texas; brothers, Charley Janik of Wallis, Texas, Leroy Janik and wife, Bernice of East Bernard, Texas; sister-in-law, Martha Janik of East Bernard, Texas; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emil Joseph and Sophie A. Sindel Janik; siblings, Louis G. Janik, Bennie A. Janik, Betty S. Krenek and Willie Mae Rieger. Edwin was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 226 and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, furniture restoration, home projects, Czech music and dancing, and spending time with his family.
