Elias Ballejo Elias Ballejo, 88, of Wharton, passed away on Friday evening February 15, 2019 in Wharton. He was born on October 8, 1930, in Crescent, Texas to the late Magdaleno and Estefana Rodriguez Ballejo. Elias was born and raised in Crescent and attended Wharton schools. He later joined the United States Marines Corps, earning his honorable discharge on February 13, 1954. He then attended the Wharton County Junior College Automotive program and graduated in 1957. He was employed with Exxon in Wharton for several years before opening his own filling station and automotive shop, here in Wharton. Elias retired in 1999. He attended Primera Iglesias Bautista. He loved Western movies and books, Louis Lamour, John Wayne, Gene Autry and Roy Rodgers were among his favorites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his sister, Elena Villasenior of Wharton and 27 nieces and nephews including those at “the Round Table”, Elva Carrillo, Frances Martin, Elizabeth Jasso, Solia Alameda and Leroy Cisneros. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton starting at 9am with a Funeral services starting at 11am with Rev. Ramiro Jaime officiating. Burial will be in the Glen Flora Cemetery in Crescent. Serving as pallbearers will be Leroy Cisneros, Frankie Rodriguez, Jessie Cisneros, Joe Ballejo, Magdaleno Ballejo, Fred Rodriguez, Guillermo Ballejo, Jr., Secundino Alameda, III with honorary pallbearer, David Cisneros.
