Eliezer Sanchez, age 87, of Wharton and formerly of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born April 10, 1931, in Mexico to the late Cingoriano and Piedad Cuevas Sanchez. Eliezer was raised in Mexico. He worked as a farmer and rancher all his life. In 1953 he married Veronica Vargas. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2012. Together they had seven children. He enjoyed hard work, gardening, his fruit trees, and raising farm animals. Eliezer is survived by his daughters, Edolia Sanchez and husband, Antonio Pantojy of Mexico, Ofelia Sanchez and husband, Jose Farias of Wharton, Almadelia Sanchez and husband, Pedro Gaytan of Mexico and Audilena Sanchez and husband, Arcellio Farias of Wharton and sons, Fidel Sanchez and wife, Idolina Rodrigues, Sinfroriano Sanchez and wife, Clementina, and Efren Sanchez all of California, 28 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home, with a parish rosary recited at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with the Rite of Internment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
