Frank Solorzano, 84, of Wharton, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sugar Land following a brief illness. Frank was born on September 19, 1935 in New Gulf, Texas to the late Pedro and Zenaida Torres Solorzano.
Frank was raised in New Gulf and graduated from Boling High School. He later attended and graduated from Wharton County Junior College and St. Thomas University. He was employed as a draftsman for many years. Frank was involved with his Wharton community. He loved being active in his church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and would often be seen selling raffle tickets for upcoming fundraisers. He was also on the Bereavement committee at Mt Carmel. Frank was an avid reader and enjoyed photography. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Ybarro and Silvia Ramirez.
Frank is survived by his siblings, Nate Ramos and husband, Leo of Wharton, Blas Solorzano of Wharton, Victor Solorzano of Houston, Connie Valdez of Katy, Maria Elena Nunez and husband, Adalberto, of Monterrey, Mexico, Alex Solorzano of Sugar Land, Joe Solorzano of Wharton and Grace Cisneros and husband Abel of Robstown, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Following cremation, a Rosary will be recited on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Father Antonio Perez officiating. The burial will take place at a later time in a private family ceremony.
