Herlinda Hernandez, 73, of Edna and formerly of Wharton, TX passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, in a Victoria hospital following a brief illness. She was born on October 3, 1944 in Newgulf, a daughter of the late Apolonio and Augustina Alvarado Hernandez. Herlinda was raised in the Wharton area and graduated from Wharton High School. She worked for many years in retail clothing sales at Perry’s and Weiner’s. She also enjoyed working at Bill’s Dollar Store. Herlinda enjoyed playing Bingo, going dancing, loved music and being around her family. She was catholic by faith.In addition to her parents, Herlinda was preceded in death by her sister, Isabella Mendoza and brothers, Marcelino Hernandez and Reynaldo Hernandez. Herlinda is survived by her daughter, Rosalynda Hernandez and husband, Jose Hernandez of Edna, sons, Juan Jose Olvera, Jr. and wife, Amber Lynn of Edna, Jose Manuel Olvera and wife, Tina of El Campo, and Alexander Olvera of Edna, grandchildren, Abrianna Garcia, Ariana Olvera, Bria Olvera, Lilyana Olvera, Cameron Olvera, Haley Olvera and Xavier Olvera and great grandson Grayson Roijas, sisters, Juanita Salias and husband, Frank, Lupe Maldonado and husband, John, and Santos Gonzales and brother, Fernando Hernandez. Visitation will begin on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10 am with funeral services to follow at 12 noon at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Deacon David Valdez officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Juan Jose Olvera, Jr., Jose Manuel Olvera, Alexander Olvera, Jose Martinez, Jason Martinez, Javier Ortiz, Jr., Fernando Hernandez, Ray Gonzalez and Marky Salias.
