Irene C. Carbajal, 93, of Boling, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at her residence in Boling, Texas. She was born in Victoria, Texas on March 25, 1925, to the late Alvino G. and Guadalupe Cuellar Campos. Irene was raised in Newgulf and graduated from Boling High School in 1945. She married William R. Carbajal on September 9, 1945 in Newgulf. He preceded her in death in 1968. She enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking, and loved her grandchildren and her flower garden. Irene had a keen sense of humor. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Luis Carbajal, grandsons, Willie Carbajal, and Rene Samora sisters, Margaret Rios and Delia Alaniz, brothers, Alvino Campos, Robert Campos, Sr., David Campos, Richard Campos and Carlos Campos. Irene is survived by her daughters; Iris Rice and husband, Jim of Houston, Linda Lopez of San Antonio, Sylvia Geisler of Houston and Irene Ruegger and husband, Bob of Garden Grove, CA, sons, Gilbert Carbajal and wife, Maria of Sweeny and Alvino “Blackie” Carbajal, sisters, Corina Robles, Amelia Garcia and husband, Benito, Lydia Campos, Elva Ramirez and Belia Jimenez and husband, Filo, brothers, Rudy Campos, and Alonzo Campos and wife, Sylvia, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 24, 2018 starting at 5:00 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m with Deacon David Valdez. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Boling with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. The rite of committal and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers are Keith Ruegger, Eric Ruegger, Anthony Lopez, Willie Hernandez, Cory Carbajal, Alan Carbajal. Honorary Pallbearers are Gilbert Carbajal, Blackie Carbajal, Alonzo Campos, Rudy Campos. The family wishes to than Altus Hospice for the excellent care given to their mother and especially to Linda and Judy. They also want to say a special thanks to Ofelia “Ofie” Botello for being the best caregiver not only to their mother, but to them as well.
