James Weldon Andersen
James Andersen, 83, of Boling passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at his residence in Boling. He was born in Louise, Texas on October 6, 1936 to the late Ove and Sarah Alice Braddock Andersen.
James was raised in the Iago area and graduated from Boling High School with the Class of 1955. Following high school, he served our country honorably in the United States Army, earning his honorable discharge in August 1961. While in the military, he met and fell in love with a German girl by the name of Elfriede Allmann, following his discharge, he sent her a ring and his address and they were married on July 28, 1960, almost 60 years ago. James was a long-time employee with Gary Farms in his youth. He was the Utilities Manager for the Boling Water District for over 43 years. James was also very devoted to his church, New Apostolic Church in Houston, serving as Minister for over 30 years. James enjoyed woodworking and visiting with his friends at the Boling Shell Station for morning coffee and news. He also served our community as a member of the Boling Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Thomas Andersen and brothers, Rodger Andersen and Ove Dwight Andersen.
James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elfriede Andersen of Boling, daughter, Christina Holt and husband, Bill of Boling, grandchildren, Peyton and Caitlyn Miller, step grandchildren, Clayton Passman and Sarah Holt, special friends, Jason Miller and Amy Horelica, sisters-in-law Linda Wittig and husband, Herman and Barbara Andersen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 7 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Alvarez officiating. Private family burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton at a later date with military honors provided by members of the Wharton American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
