James Edward Guin, age 92, of Wharton passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in a Temple Veterans hospital following a brief illness. He was born December 13, 1925 in DeQuincy, LA to the late Claborn David and Docia Malone Guin. James was raised in the Wharton area and attended school in Crescent. James honorably served in the United States Army during World War II, earning his Honorable Discharge on June 10, 1946. On April 5, 1947 he married Ila Nadine Cox in Ganado. She preceded him in death on September 23, 2014. James worked as an automotive technician for many years in Wharton County. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. James loved a good family get together and would enjoy the family’s singings. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruby Guin, J.D. Guin, Oard Guin, Major Guin, and Lola Mae White. James is survived by his sons, Jimmy Guin and wife, Marjorie of Stephenville and Timothy Guin and wife, Sherrie of Wharton, grandchildren, Melanie Wambach and husband, Mike, Wendy Tamayo, Jamie Guin and Mandy Guin, great grandchildren, Zachary, Haley, Braxton, Bella and Ethan and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home from 6 till 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Abundant Life Church at 10 am with Pastor David Murff officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by members of American Legion Post 87 and VFW post 4474 both of Wharton. Pallbearers are Jamie Guin, Jason Murff, Mike Ryman, Nathaniel Ryman, Zachary Wambach, and Ricky White. Honorary Pallbearers are Braxton Wambach and Ethan Tamayo.
